Welcome to the home of the Artisan Movie Movement
This is a very new site and still at an early development stage.

"It is only through enforced standardization of methods, enforced adoption of the best implements and working conditions, and enforced cooperation that (this) faster work can be assured. And the duty of enforcing the adoption of standards and enforcing this cooperation rests with management alone."

Frederick Winslow Taylor, inventor of micro-management and unacknowledged father of current film industry management.

What is The Artisan Movie Movement?

An Artisan Movie is a movie made outside of the industrial formula.  It's a movie made with whatever resources can be gathered or improvised.  The goal is to make a movie that looks like a movie, but in a way that pays no attention to standard movie industry practices.

If you are making an Artisan Movie, please get in touch with us.  Tell us about your project.  Share your tips on how you are creating an Internet buzz for your movie.  Share your production and promotion secrets, and join our forum to see what others have come up with.  We can put together a page for your production, with updates as you send them to us.

Our latest project is the web series "Quiltbags".  Please check it out.

Here's an example of an Artisan Movie:

"Passion" was made by the Volksmovie Group in Nanaimo B.C. around the turn of the millennium.  It was a cooperative venture, with participants booking their time which was converted to a percentage of ownership.  Everybody did everything, from camera to sound to lighting, with the exception of the director, Zale R. Dalen who was the sole director and editor as well as doing everything else until the group came up to speed.
